Direct Debit

Your protection

Which of these applies depends on the currency you pay in. Sterling payments are collected under the UK Bacs scheme and are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Euro payments are collected under a SEPA Core Direct Debit mandate.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

  • This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.
  • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit, Stripe will notify you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited, or as otherwise agreed. If you request Stripe to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
  • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Stripe or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Stripe asks you to.
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.

Payments are collected by Stripe Payments UK Ltd on behalf of Web Design by Ian and will appear on your statement as STRIPE followed by a reference.

Your rights under a SEPA Direct Debit mandate

  • By signing this mandate you authorise Web Design by Ian, and Stripe as our payment service provider, to send instructions to your bank to debit your account; and your bank to debit your account in accordance with those instructions.
  • You are entitled to a refund from your bank under the terms and conditions of your agreement with them. A refund must be claimed within eight weeks starting from the date on which your account was debited.
  • For an unauthorised collection you may claim a refund for up to 13 months after the debit date.
  • You can cancel this mandate at any time by contacting us or your bank.
  • You will be notified in advance of the amount and the date of each collection.

This is a SEPA Core Direct Debit mandate for recurring payments. Collections are made by Stripe under its own creditor identifier on behalf of Web Design by Ian, and appear on your statement as STRIPE followed by a reference. Your mandate reference is shown on your confirmation email once the mandate is set up.

How the timing works

Neither scheme moves money instantly. A Direct Debit takes several working days between leaving your account and clearing into ours, and neither settles at weekends or on bank holidays.

Payments here are timed so the cleared funds arrive on the 1st of the month. That means the debit leaves your account a few working days beforehand, usually in the last week of the previous month. Your confirmation email gives the exact date, and it stays the same each month.

If a collection fails, you will hear from us by email with the reason and the date of the next attempt. Nothing is collected twice for the same month.

Changing or cancelling

To cancel, contact your bank or building society. Please tell us too, so we can close the plan cleanly rather than chase a payment that will not arrive.

To change plan or change bank account, email info@webdesignbyian.com with your Direct Debit reference. It begins DD- and is on your confirmation email.
